We recommend routine desexing of animals for a number of reasons.
Desexing not only helps minimise unwanted pregnancies and therefore helps in decreasing homeless animals, but it can also help minimise the risk of mammary tumours and prostatic issues in older dogs. As well as this, it makes council registration fees cheaper and can help with some behavioural issues.
The ideal age for desexing is 5-6 months; refer to our Puppy Care and Kitten Care pages for more information.
